How can you adjust your planned learning activities to meet the needs of your learners if an unexpected event occurs?

Before our learning pod tries to come up with an idea of how the learning resource will be presented. We always try our best to make it as inclusive as it can be for all learners with different situations. So if there is any unexpected event occurs, I believe we will have a backup plan for further adjustment. In my opinion, nothing matters more than effective communication between educators and learners if any unexpected event happens due to objective factors. For example, during the pandemic period, social distance is mandatory so many of our face-to-face activities can not be accomplished at a decent standard. That’s when we apply online tools and content to adjust to the current situation. This can be achieved through tools like zoom, Microsoft team, and Google Drive.

Consider the learning environment for your current design. What potential barriers can be reduced or eliminated to provide more pathways for learner success?

Being able to study at home is just one of many inclusive designs in our project. We have also made an effort to make it universal towards learners so that to avoid as many barriers as we can. In order to make our lesson meaningful and complete as a whole, we pursue the three pillars (representation, action or expression, and engagement) to set goals for our interactive learning resource. Indeed, barriers are everywhere, we can never eliminate them completely but we should always do our best to minimize them. Considering about our topic is about the biological aspect of covid-19, so it requires some background knowledge to totally comprehend some material, so people without experience in the biology area may be feeling a little bit stressed. That’s why our resource will contain a lot of introductory videos and readings that can help them understand. As for the physical barriers such as hearing loss or color blindness, we designed to provide multiple tools( speaker, synchronous translation tool) in our classroom to improve the overall experience for learners with special needs.
